Description

Join AIA Denver on Thursday, Sept. 25, from noon - 1 p.m., for a presentation about the Denver 2030 District presented by the Committee on the Environment (COTE). The program will be held at the AIA Colorado Office (303 E. 17th Ave., Ste. 110, Denver, CO 80203).

Commercial buildings consume 42% of all energy and 72% of all electricity generated in the United States. To date, numerous efficiency initiatives such as LEED, Green Globes, Living Building Challenge, and Watts to Water have made tremendous strides in reducing resource consumption in commercial buildings, though these improvements have been on a building-by-building basis and often focused on newer, higher performing buildings.

This presentation will focus on the role that high performance building districts, such as the Denver 2030 District, can play in creating significant energy, water, and transportation-related efficiency improvements in commercials buildings while simultaneously acting as an economic development engine. With over 17M SF committed to achieving the goals of the Denver 2030 District, this newest district is changing the way Denver addresses high performance buildings.

Attendees can earn 1.0 HSW AIA continuing education learning unit (LU). Under the state of Colorado’s rules for continuing education for state licensure renewal, this program should meet the requirements for 1.0 HSW CEH.

This program is free for all AIA Colorado members; however, attendees must bring their own lunch (BYOL).

Registration is required - register by Tuesday, Sept. 23.
